Costa Rica is a narrow strip of land near the equator that has the Caribbean to the east and the Pacific to the West.

A range of volcanos and tall mountains runsdown its center like a spine. There's a precious mountain valley in the center of Costa Rica where most of its population live. The capital city of San Jose and some of the best weather in the world is in this valley.

There's a large range of places to visit all over Costa Rica. This is a peaceful country that abolished its army more than sixty years ago.

Locals are known as Ticos and Ticas; they are a very friendly and social people. Gringos is another colloquial term used to describe people from the USA and Canada, however some europeans may be called gringos by the ticos. A great place to see ticos and gringos interact is at Mac's American Sport Bar across the 178 acre La Sabana Metropolitan Park in San Jose Costa Rica.
